Product Description:

This is a great study. Simply Charlotte Mason (SCM) has written these lesson plans with families in mind. These lesson plans are for all children - all grades. Think about it, all your children (no matter what grade) sitting together covering three subjects at once. Those subjects are Bible, History of Ancient Egypt, and the Geography of Africa.  The study suggest these books as the spine of the study:
  • Ancient Egypt and Her Neighbors by Lorene Lambert
  • Bible
  • Exodus: A Commentary for Children (Herein Is Love series) by Nancy E. Ganz
  • The Great Pyramid by Elizabeth Mann
  • Numbers: A Commentary for Children (Herein Is Love series) by Nancy E. Ganz
  • Pharaoh’s Boat by David Weitzman
  • The Stuff They Left Behind: From the Days of Ancient Egypt portfolio
  • Then and Now Bible Maps from Rose Publishing
  • Visits to Africa notebook (one for each student)
  • Hungry Planet by Peter Menzel (used with Visits to Africa)
  • Material World by Peter Menzel (used with Visits to Africa)
Visits to Africa is apart of SCM's Geography series, Visits to... In this study the family takes a look at different families throughout Africa from the readings of Hungry Planet and Material World by Peter Menzel, along with other great books. These books are then combined with additional readings for the children according to grades 1-3. 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. A complete list of these books can be found here. Many of these books are available at your local library.

This study is split into three- twelve week terms. Each lesson list for the parent the materials needed for that lesson. It is then followed by describing how to use each material according to family and grade levels. SCM then lists reminders for you as well. So if you are like me and need to be reminded when a different book is scheduled later in the lessons, you'll enjoy having a reminder.

Charlotte Mason methods used in this study are short lessons for attention, narration, map drills, living books, hands-on projects and for older students a Book of Centuries. The Book of Centuries is their own timeline notebook. If, however, you're children are too young to have their own Book of Centuries, then create a family Book of Centuries.

You can download a sample by going here.
